Fighting a Cold?
We all probably know that when you get a cold the best way to get it over quicker is to get a couple of extra hours of sleep and more water every day. We all have other ideas to work on getting over sicknesses. Here is an essential oil mixture that seems to work well to shake a lingering cold or a sinus infection. This does not constitute medical advice – you need to see a provider before taking this or any other alternate therapy.
There are many variations of this “concoction”. Here is mine:
Size “0” gel capsules, available at health food stores
Essential oils: Oregano, tea tree, clove, ginger and peppermint
Open a gel capsule and put 3 drops of each oil into the capsule and close the capsule. Do this for 5 capsules. I recommend only making these on the day you are going to take them. Take 1 capsule every hour with food until gone, 5 hours. You will burp the essential oil scent. The mixture is expectorant, antiviral, antimicrobial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea and fatigue fighting.
I recommend taking this only one time during a cold for adults only. You can also use these and others in baths, massages, diffusers, etc.

Because if Mama ain't happy...
Being a parent is the most important job many of us will ever have. Unfortunately it's also the job for which most of us have the least preparation, training, experience, and expert support. And many of us, at some point, find ourselves "stuck" in some habits and behaviors that we'd like to change, but we aren't sure how to make those changes, or how to get... "un-stuck."
I'm Cheyenne Ryan, and when I had twin toddlers, I found myself in one of those "stuck" places. Every time either of my sweet girls would cry, it would trigger my brain to loop a sort of mental video of awful things happening, over and over. It went on for a year, so I saw those same imaginary videos at least 1000 times. After trying everything else that had helped me in the past (to no avail), a friend suggested a session with a ThetaHealing® Practitioner. I asked, "What's that?"
My friend replied, "It's a technique that's great for clearing stuck energy." I shrugged and said, "Sure, maybe it'll help. What's her number?"
Well, the ThetaHealing session did help. In fact, in the years since that first session, I've never seen those "videos" again. And a lot more changed, besides that!
Within a year, I had become a certified ThetaHealing Practitioner and had started Happy Mom 101, my ThetaHealing and Coaching Practice. Since then I've worked with many moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, single women and men, and children to identify and change their beliefs and habits, and to help them get un-stuck and move forward in their lives. Some clients have opted for single sessions, others choose my "ThetaHealing & Coaching" programs to reach deeper change in their lives. Even single-session clients describe transformations that happen instantly that significantly change what's happening in their daily lives. The results are as varied as the people I've worked with - for a list of a few I have permission to share, see http://www.cheyennryan.com/thetahealing-sessions
I'm brand new to the area, my family moved to South Jordan in July. In addition to single sessions, I have 6 coaching spots available in my Happy Mom 101 program - so, Amazing Mamas, if you (or someone you know) are ready to begin really enjoying the moment with your family, schedule a free 1/2 hour Happy Mama (or Daddy) Discovery Session - I'd love a chance to connect with you and see if my programs are right to get you launched into deeply happy parenthood.

We always gather at my parents home the Saturday after Thanksgiving to decorate gingerbread houses. My mom hand rolls and cuts each house. This is a huge act of love and takes her days of preparation as there are now 81 people in my immediate family. The memories we have made through the years are priceless and the gathering at grandma’s house is really over the river and through the woods on the north fork of the Provo River. While we were there this year it snowed 18 inches and I was worried we would be snowed in! This is hands down a top five favorite of our family traditions.

From Our Childbirth Educator Jennifer,
"I am pretty sure that I am part bear"
As the days grow shorter, I am drawn to the comforts of home, my cave. Warm beverages, the softness of blankets and my loved ones nearby bring me joy. I like to sprinkle in a little alone time as well. I give my self permission to turn inward as I search to honor the seasons. My body and heart connects with the changes in nature. Somehow we forget that this is normal. We forget that we are connected to mother nature as we hustle and bustle in our modern world. After too many winters fighting this, the time has come where I am learning to embrace these darker days with my family. While doing this we find the beauty of winter unfolds. As winter joins us my family begins the practice of Hygge as a way to embrace the winter season. To learn more about this Danish tradition you may enjoy checking out this video.
For my family, our practice looks like this.
Sunday is our "hygge" day.
During the day we find time to spend outside, taking walks and playing.
After 4pm technology is put away.
Lighting consists of candles.
We actually talk and look at each other! As stated above technology is prohibited.
Games are played, books are read, crafts are made and stress seems to melt away.
Want to join in this wonderful winter tradition? Maybe you are part bear too? The best part is this: There are no rules! This practice can be adapted to meet your needs.
